Guess what?

Despite National Rail claiming they've now fixed the f*cked up signals at Stratford, I arrived there  tonight to find there are still delays.

It's gone beyond a joke now, it's a downright bloody disgrace. Over 2 weeks of f*cked up trains now and still counting.

The latest train to arrive here so far is the 1803 Southend service.

Unbelievably...

It's happened again!

The f*cking signals around Stratford are bolloxed again.

The 0812 is currently nowhere to be seen.

Words fail me.

Wednesday, 14 December 2011

Twenty minutes...

Late and still we get shunted onto the Chelmsford passing loop to allow a poxy Inter City past.

F*ck the poor bloody commuters who have paid NXEA almost 4 grand a year for this shit, can't let the trains that make the most in subsidies run later than necessary.

Burning at the stake...

Is too good for the f*cking cretin making the tannoy announcements at Stratford.

This moron has had everyone running backwards and forwards to and from platforms 10 and 10A as he tries to get his brain cell around the f*cked up trains here tonight.

To compound the misery, platform 10A has become the go-to platform for just about every bloody train going to Southend.

Idiot.

Nineteen miserable....

Minutes late leaving f*cking Stratford. Bastards.

And tonight's...

Excuses for another f*ck up is "point failure".

Everything running at least 15 minutes late, though you wouldn't think so from the robotic "apologies".

Not once for at least 2 weeks now has there _not_ been a f*ck up on this joke of a railway line at some point during one or the other, and frequently both, rush hours.

February really cannot come soon enough now.

Tuesday, 13 December 2011

NXEA's incompetence...

Continues right to the bitter end.

Another f*cked days travel.

There are currently signalling problems somewhere around Stratford. It's completed bolloxed everything.

So as usual the dickwads at NXEA immediately start cancelling services and, as usual, the Braintree line is the first victim.

Once again the 0812 has been unceremoniously binned.

Yet again the wankers didn't have the courage or courtesy to actually tell the poor bastards they were shafting that they were being shafted. Not one tannoy message so far, not one. The only email I received was the usual vague "may be cancelled" one.

The 0900 is roughly half an hour late at the moment. I can see that one getting the chop as well.

Soon be February.

At  least the new lot are contractually obliged to keep people informed. It may not stop the f*ck ups, but at least we'll know about them sooner.

Monday, 12 December 2011

Twenty minutes...

Late leaving Witham.

The commuter...

Services may be totally up the shitter again tonight, but the poxy Inter Cities are still running on time.

Currently 15 minutes late at Witham waiting for the Clacton connection, which has been kept waiting in turn for an Inter City to go past.

Amazing.

Another...

Shambolic evening on the country's worst railway. No idea why, no-one's letting on as usual.

10 minutes late leaving Stratford and then we stopped.

Bloody hopeless.

Thursday, 8 December 2011

Every night...

This week I've travelled home seated near the most unbelievably miserable individual it has ever been my misfortune to encounter.

Each night as we approached Witham she has received a call on her mobile from someone, and  every time she has then conducted the conversation using the most awful, whiney, misery inducing voice.

On a couple of occasions I felt like offering her a weapon so she put herself and us out of her misery.

Friday, 2 December 2011

Whilst...

We're stuck here at Stratford waiting for the Braintree service, we're being treated to two cretins competing over the tannoy, announcing and then re-announcing each late-running  train.

You really couldn't make up this kind of lunacy.

Yet another...

Bolloxed evenings travel in prospect thanks to NXEAs piss-poor maintenance.

Everything is running at least 15 minutes late from Stratford.

I just keep telling myself it'll soon be February.

Wednesday, 30 November 2011

A minor...

Miracle. Just arrived at Witham and the Braintree train was still there.

Another...

Needlessly f*cked-up evenings travel thanks to the clowns running the Jubilee Line.

Tonight, these f*ckwits had every fourth train needlessly terminating at the pointless North Greenwich.

As a result, everyone on them got off at Canary Wharf and waited there for the next Stratford train.

Meaning the queues were doubled at a stroke.

Inevitably, each of the next three Stratford trains was absolutely rammed; at most just 3 or 4 people were able to board at each door. I had to wait for a new piss-poor record of 6 trains before I could finally get on.

To compound the misery, they were running with huge gaps between trains.

The only upside was that as we stood there seething waiting for the next train we weren't being regaled by the idiot on the tannoy that there was a "good service" running. Which there wasn't. Again

Adding to the misery was the obligatory slamming to a halt halfway between West Ham and Stratford to "await a free platform", and then arriving to find the obligatory 2 empty platforms.

Just shambolic.

Now I'm having to stand on the dragarsing 1820 Clacton train which at the moment seems unlikely to make the connection at Witham with the Braintree train TF Hell's incompetence made me miss.

Tuesday, 29 November 2011

Monday, 28 November 2011

Interestingly...

NXEA'S precious bloody inter-city trains appear to be unaffected by any overhead line problems once again.

One has just gone past us at speed.

Monday morning and already...

We're late.

Overhead wire problems is today's excuse de jour.

Dragarsing again, just passing Romford.

Friday, 25 November 2011

I've finally...

Come across a sport which I find listening about even more bloody boring than golf. F*cking tennis!

Three people, a gormless younger woman together with an older couple, possibly her parents, got on at North Greenwich.

They had obviously been at the tennis going on at the Dome, because the airheaded cow spent the entire, now seemingly, endless journey to Stratford reading crap about the players, results and statistics from her phone in a loud and bloody irritating estuary accent.

I could still hear her drivelling as I made my way to platform 10 to catch the 1716.

Another...

Crap journey thanks to.... well no-one seems to know.

We dragged all the way from Witham at about 30mph. Normally the train would average about 70mph on that journey.

15 minutes late at Stratford.

As ever we were offered no explanation; the driver was doing his best to keep us informed, but nobody saw fit to tell him what was going on.

Coupled with the slow journey was the attitude of the bastards who got on at Chelmsford.

Yet again these arseholes barged on to the train like they f*cking owned it.

They seem to think no-one else has a right to use any train that stops there. They pushed down the aisle between the seats and forced their way into seats. The behaviour is a bloody disgrace.

Well I have news for them; I actually pay more for my season ticket than they do.

Turds, every one of 'em.

Friday, 18 November 2011

How...

Much more incompetent can the f*ckwits at Stratford be?

The dot matrix displays dotted around the station are currently announcing track closures on the 12th and 13th of November.

Berks.

Yet again...

A f*ck up on the Jubilee Line turns into an even bigger  clusterf*ck when NXEA are added to an already poisonous brew.

The Clacton train has been dragarsing its way all the way to Chelmsford. It's now a good 10 minutes late.

What are the odds the tossers at Witham let the Braintree go before we get there?

Thursday, 17 November 2011

Another...

F*cked up journey on the Jubilee Line again thanks to the incompetent f*ckwits at TF Hell. Bastards.

Got onto the platform at Canary Wharf to discover the next train wasn't due for 6 minutes and worse it was only going to  bloody useless North Greenwich.

The first Stratford train wasn't due for 8 f*cking endless minutes.

As usual that one was packed out, as was the train behind.

Another night where I couldn't get on for 3 trains.

Where do you get clowns as useless as the wankers running the Jubilee Line?

Monday, 14 November 2011

Another shambolic...

F*cked up journey courtesy of Tf bloody Hell.

The stupid useless empty f*cking North Greenwich train caused another huge tailback again tonight.

Three f*cking jam-packed trains went through before I was able to get on.  Huge gaps between each f*cking train and as usual, all the while the wankers were tannoying there was a "good service" running.

No there wasn't. It was shite. Like it always is nowadays.

It's getting worse as well.

God help the poor bastards using it during the Olympics fiasco next summer.

Thursday, 10 November 2011

Finally...

We've arrived at Stratford; 9 minutes late.

Soon be February.

We've now...

Picked up speed again since leaving Shenfield.

But the damage has been done, and we're now between 10 and 15 minutes late.

Still no word on why.

Still no...

Information from NXEA explaining why we're running slow and late.

Still, it's too late for them to change their habits now.

Here we go...

We've suddenly slowed down and we're dragarsing between signals on the way into Chelmsford.

What price can I get on signal failure up ahead?

Thursday, 3 November 2011

Twenty bloody...

Minutes late at Witham thanks to the wankers at NXEA.

Unbelievably the Clacton train we had to wait for was the one that's supposed to get to Witham 5 minutes AFTER this one.

They f*cked us up to get that bloody train back on time! And then the stupid cow on the tannoy at Witham implied it was OUR fault we were late.

It's crystal clear where Braintree comes on NXEA'S list of priorities when it comes to deciding who gets f*cked over first.

With their...

Usual breathtaking arrogant incompetence, NXEA have again decided that the poor bloody sods who travel to and from Braintree every day, paying the thick end of four grand for the dubious privilege of occasionally being offered the opportunity to travel in one of their shit box trains should be shafted again tonight.

Being shunted into siding every night to allow a f*cking untouchable Inter Shitty to go past is one thing. Forcing us to wait for a late f*cking Clacton one most certainly isn't.

Why do those bastards get priority when they're late? We never ever do.

Cocks.

As usual...

NXEA are incapable of running anything on time.

Everything is at least 10 minutes late. And no explanation again.

Tuesday, 1 November 2011

Another...

Crapulous f*cked up evenings travel courtesy of London Underground.

Why do these demented clowns insist on running empty trains to North bloody Greenwich? No f*cker ever gets off there.

The next train is always packed out so the majority of people waiting at Canary Wharf have to get the third train to leave after they've got onto the platform.

Stupid.

Friday, 28 October 2011

Well that....

Was another jolly journey into Stratford.

Today, I was given the opportunity to sit with a hyper-active knob-end, who got on at Hatfield Peverel and promptly started to empty his bag searching for something.

I've no idea if he found it, because he then pulled a Passenger Survey form out of a plastic sleeve and started to fill it in.

That done he then began to repeatedly remove, read and replace a stack of paper from a second plastic sleeve.

He carried on with that malarkey for the rest of the journey until just before we arrived at Stratford, at which point he decided to block the aisle while he repacked his bloody bag.

All the time that that particular madness was going on, I was being treated to sitting next to the usual gormless tool who continuously receives endless bloody emails on his Blackberry.

Instead of keeping bloody phone in his hand, this idiot insisted on putting it back in his trouser pocket after reading each new message. Why? No-one was going to steal it.

And to cap the misery, the train was 10 minutes late.

Still, nearly Christmas...

Wednesday, 26 October 2011

There are...

Few things less maddening than leaving earlier then usual in the expectation of catching an earlier Jubilee  Line train.
Only to then get onto the platform at Canary Wharf to discover the next train isn't due for almost 5 minutes, and worse, it's only going to North f*cking Greenwich.
Then to add insult, the next Stratford train won't arrive for another 3 minutes after that pointless North Greenwich one.
And all the time you're standing there seething, there's some gormless bloody female twittering on the tannoy that there's a "good service".  Bollocks there is.
In fact, I left work earlier tonight than I did last night and still managed, thanks to London bloody Underground, to get to Stratford later than I did last night.
That kind of incompetence takes talent;  the kind of talent that only the cretins who elected that fat, ignorant, moronic, thicko dinosaur Bob bloody Crow can lay claim to.

Tuesday, 25 October 2011

Another night...

Another delayed train because of NXEA'S piss-poor maintenance.

Monday, 24 October 2011

As usual...

Whenever there's an NXEA maintenance f*ck-up like the one we have tonight, the Southend trains never seem to be as badly affected as the rest of the line.

One's just gone through Stratford out of sequence.

Here we go again...

Every bloody train from Liverpool St is currently late by at least 10 minutes, well all of them apart from the untouchable f*cking Inter-Citys.

Piss-poor maintenance again.

Friday, 21 October 2011

Yet another...

Bolloxed mornings journey because of NXEA's piss-poor maintenance.

Dragarsing through Ilford again, 10 minutes late.

New franchisees.

Just seen in Metro, I managed to get one this morning, that the Dutch bidders have won the Anglia rail franchise to run from February.
Hopefully, they can do a better job than NXEA.

Thursday, 20 October 2011

More problems...

This morning.

The 0812 is currently dragarsing it's way past Ilford.

By way of explanation NXEA sent this gem:

"The 07:26 will be delayed after leaving by about 10 minutes due to an unusually large passenger flow."

WTF is "... an unusually large passenger flow"?

The last time they used that excuse their solution was to start cancelling trains. It was f*cking surreal.

Their excuse for this train being 10 minutes late is much more believable:

"...General disruption along the line caused by an earlier train fault
"

Piss-poor maintenance in other words.

Only once...

This week, has whoever delivers the free Metro newspaper to Braintree station, provided enough copies to allow me to get my hands on one.

That was on Tuesday during the great  overhead wire catastrophe.

And only then because the 0727 was cancelled and everyone who would have been on it went to Witham.

By ten-past-eight they're all now gone. A sure sign more people are travelling these days. And even more circumstantial evidence for the urgent upgrade and improvements this crappy railway line desperately needs.

Tuesday, 18 October 2011

Just discovered...

National Rail have put this gem on their website:

"Overhead wire problems are causing disruption at London LiverpoolStreet. National Express East Anglia are advising passengers not to travel unless necessary. "

Good of NXEA to let us know. Oh wait, they haven't.

Currently...

Freezing on Braintree station because the 0812 is at least 65 minutes late.

Overhead line problems somewhere around Bethnal Green.

Oddly, the train hasn't been canceled yet despite it supposedly arriving AFTER the 0900.

The good news is the 0900 is "on time". At least that's according to NXEA. National Rail just say it's "delayed". Which generally means it hasn't even left Liverpool Street yet.

Tuesday, 11 October 2011

God protect us...

From the mindless cretins who board the train in one crowded carriage and then insist on walking through to the next crowded carriage, then the next one, then the next and so on ad nauseum.

It happened again tonight; just after I'd found somewhere quiet to stand a gormless female came barging through the connecting door from the carriage behind and forced me back towards the carriage doorway.

All the while the silly bitch was twittering away on her mobile telling some twat she was "just walking down the train."

And the daft cow would have kept going except we were in the leading coach of a 4 coach set. She couldn't go any further in any case.

Dim slapper.

Saturday, 8 October 2011

Just found...

A kindred spirit.

I am not alone!

Reading about the hell that simply travelling to and from Southend  has become has caused me to re-evaluate my attitude to the users of the service.

It still rankles slightly that their service is far more frequent than the half-arsed one we have to endure to Braintree.

But since it's as crap as the one we get then they deserve sympathy,

Thursday, 6 October 2011

It's when...

You're standing on the platform at Canary Wharf, hoping like hell that the next Jubilee Line train, the fourth since you got there, will have enough space for you to get on despite there being a 6 minute gap since the last overcrowded one went through.

That's the moment you appreciate just what a disingenuous load of  bollocks Boris bloody Johnson was spouting at the Tory Party conference this week.

Twat.

Bad news...

There were no Metro newspapers at Braintree Station this morning.

No Sudoku! How on earth am I going to survive the journey to Stratford?

Wednesday, 5 October 2011

Tuesday, 4 October 2011

We've Finally....

Arrived at Stratford,  a magnificent 17 minutes late!

Brilliantly...

Someone has just tried to let us know why the train is late.

It's just a shame the tannoy volume has been turned down so low no one could hear them properly.

Once again...

We're sitting at Chadwell Heath going nowhere.

Typically no information is forthcoming from the train crew to tell us why we've stopped.

Only 4 months to go.

Monday, 26 September 2011

What is the point...

Of National Rail's Enquiry Line?

To my endless regret, I've just called it to ask how many arms and legs my new season ticket will cost me this year.

After 20 minutes split into roughly two minutes talking to the thickest individual it has ever been my misfortune to speak to and 18 minutes listening to silence I still have no idea.

His final offering was to go and ask at Braintree Station. Probably the only sensible thing I got out of him.

Tuesday, 20 September 2011

I'm intrigued...

To see NXEA have begun to de-brand their trains ready for when they have to give up the franchise in February.
I've now seen a number of Class 321 EMUs with either no branding at all, or with obvious signs of having had the NXEA decals removed.
Things are beginning to move.

Monday, 19 September 2011

At Chelmsford...

And as expected, the train is now f*cking deserted after the bastards all got off.

Now we've been informed that because the Braintree train ahead still hasn't arrived, we're being sidelined for 15 minutes so every other twat and his dog can go past.

What are the odds this train gets terminated at Witham?

Despite....

The dishonest bullshit being spouted by the idiot on the tannoy at Canary Wharf tonight, there was most definitely not a "good service" on the Jubilee Line again.

Having to watch 3 packed trains together with the inevitable and pointless empty train which terminated at North Greenwich made that abundantly clear.

Coupled with that, was the shambles caused by the now weekly nutjob chucking themselves in front of a train at Romford.

I'm currently on the totally rammed 1809. As usual in these cases, it's filled to capacity with Chelmsford arseholes.

4 grand for this crap.

Friday, 16 September 2011

Another morning...

With delays.

The 0726 is currently running at least 10 minutes late and as usual there's absolutely no indication why.

Monday, 12 September 2011

Postscript to Friday

The Witham train I  caught didn't have the easy journey I was hoping for.

We spent at least half an hour waiting outside Shenfield for a platform to become available even though the train wasn't actually scheduled to stop there.

Even when a platform did become free the train pulled into it and stopped for another 40 minutes or so. It was there so long the driver got permission to open the doors to allow people off to stretch their legs.

Then while all that was going on, the station tannoy announced a Colchester train would be leaving from a different platform in a couple of minutes. Cue a mad dash by most of the passengers on our train across to the other one.

I stayed and was rewarded with a near empty train that departed a couple of minutes after the Colchester.

I finally got to Witham at about 10 past eight, and arrived home about twenty minutes later.

In all an hour and three-quarters' journey took almost 4 hours.

Friday, 9 September 2011

Woo-hoo....

On a Witham train, even got a seat.

Just leaving Stratford now

Nope..

The 1809 isn't on time.

And the next train is yet another f*cking Southend one.

Nothing going north of Shenfield has gone through since this shit began. When they do start it'll be impossible to get on any of them.

Typically...

The next train into Stratford after the Southend one left is another one going to bloody Southend.

And the next one is as well... Do these idiots not know there are other places people want to get to?

Just wandered over to platform 10A as the screens are saying the 1809 for Braintree will be on time. Yeah right.

Even if it is as it's likely to be one of the first trains to leave Liverpool St it'll be swarming with Chelmsford scum.

Still...

Stuck at Stratford.

The pillocks running things haven't a bloody clue between them.

Their only idea is to tell people to f*ck off somewhere else.

There are thousands of people with nowhere to go.

News....

Trains have just begun running again, the Southend train that was standing at platform 10 has just left.

But it's going to take hours to clear this, especially as every train from Liverpool St is going to be chocker with Chelmsford arseholes.

Absolutely the worst...

Place anywhere on the NXEA network for an incident to occur is Romford.

Every northbound service goes past there.

So it came as no surprise to arrive at Stratford this evening and discover someone had been hit by a train just there.

Absolutely nothing is moving along the entire network.

Thursday, 8 September 2011

Still no idea...

What's going on, the train that was blocking platform 10 has finally left.

Waiting for info on the Clacton train... Silence.

Update:

The Clacton train has just pitched up and, as usual, it's absolutely rammed with Chelmsford arseholes. So as usual I get to stand all the way to Chelmsford.

And I pay the thick end of 4 grand for this crap.

Here we go again.

Just arrived at Stratford after having waited 3 trains to get on the Jubilee Line to find a train blocking platform 10.

As usual there's absolutely no information forthcoming from the muppet on the tannoy.

Tuesday, 6 September 2011

As I thought...

As soon as we got to Chelmsford all the arseholes swarmed off and I could finally sit down.

I suspect the gormless twats arrived at Liverpool St, saw their usual trains were delayed. So employing all their lemming like stupidity they swarmed across to the Braintree train which left on time thinking they'd get home a bit earlier than if they'd waited.

Only the trains the dozy toerags should have been on went sailing post while we were outside Stratford.

Another f*cking triumph.

Brilliant organisation...

By NXEA and/or National Rail now means this train which was on time is now 10 minutes late.

You couldn't make it up.

We're still...

Sitting outside Stratford, so far 3 late running trains have been allowed to overtake us.

Another...

Bolloxed nights travel. Currently sitting just outside Stratford for a poxy late-running Southend train to go past.

The Braintree train is rammed with people for I don't know where. Probably Chelmsford arseholes.

For the first time...

Since I have been travelling into London on NXEA, the 0812 is a class 360 train.

Fast, smooth, with nice comfy seats and, somewhat redundant today, air conditioning.

The 321's must all be broken. Long may it continue.

The 0812...

Is running at least 15 minutes late this morning.

I'm currently standing on the platform in a half gale with rain in the air. Not a nice day to run late.

Friday, 2 September 2011

What is it...

About Friday afternoons that causes the Jubilee Line to implode with monotonous regularity?

Once again there's been either a points and/or signal failure at Stratford that's shut the line down and as a result an entire trainload of people including me have just been slung off at North Greenwich; and with nothing running in either direction I can't even get back to Canary Wharf to get the DLR.

Update 1 @ 1719:

Another train has just pulled in and emptied out.

Update 2 @ 1722:

We've just been told there's a train due here shortly going back towards Canary Wharf.

Update 3 @ 1732: currently heading back towards Canary Wharf.

Update 4 @ 1734: back at Canary Wharf.  That's an hour to go nowhere.

Update 5 @ 1743: now on a packed DLR train with someone in terminal need of a shower and a can of deodorant.

Update last @ 1806: just departed Stratford the 1806 Ipswich train.

This will be the main route to the Olympics next year. God help us all.

Wednesday, 31 August 2011

Wonders will...

Never cease. Finally, the tannoy speakers on platform 10A at Stratford are working.

At last we're no longer obliged to strain to hear announcements from platform 10. And it only took them 4 months to do it!

Even so, it's a welcome improvement.

Thursday, 25 August 2011

For the second...

Time this week the dullard incompetents at TfL managed too f*ck another evenings travel with another broken down train at Stratford causing eastbound services to block back.
So once again making the effort to catch the tube early was rewarded with another 15 minute stop between Canary  Wharf and North Greenwich.  Inevitably, I wasn't in time to get the 1809. And the 1820 was too packed to even board.
These tossers seem to have hired NXEA to manage their maintenance.
Wankers.

Wednesday, 24 August 2011

Yet more...

Inexcusable stupidity from the Kings of stupidity.

I've now discovered the wankers at Witham actually ran a Braintree service which they connected the Clacton service to.

The useless f*ckers didn't actually bother to communicate that fact to the poor sods who weren't able to get the Clacton train because the dimwits didn't tell them the Braintree was canceled until AFTER the f*cking thing had gone.

The incompetence just keeps  on coming on an industrial scale.

They're taking...

The piss now.
The useless bastards have canceled the 1809, but they couldn't be arsed to actually tell anyone.
I was at Shenfield on a Southend train before I discovered it was the wrong train and even then I only discovered my train been canceled because they don't maintain them properly via.an email that should have been sent half an hour before out was. Wankers all of them.
Even if they had bothered to announce the cancellation on their useless tannoy system, (which they didn't) there's no guarantee we would have heard out on platform 10A in any case.
So now I'm stuck at bloody Shenfield watching a procession of f*cking Southend trains go by with nothing going towards Witham.
I really can't wait for February now. Bastards.

Another day...

Another bolloxed journey.

NXEA's piss-poor maintenance meant the 0726 from Braintree was canceled again this morning.

This resulted in the usual scramble for seats as 20 carriages worth of passengers tried to find somewhere to sit on an 8 carriage train.

Still, soon be February.

Tuesday, 23 August 2011

Another bolloxed...

Evenings travel courtesy of TfL.

Their crap maintenance meant another of their piece of shit trains broke down at Stratford and then the useless bloody thing failed a second time as they were taking it back to the depot.

All of which meant the train I'd again managed to catch early was left sitting in the tunnel between Greenwich and Canning Town for 15 minutes.

F*cking pathetic.

Of course I missed the 1809 and was forced to catch the 1820 Clacton train which as usual was swarming with Chelmsford arseholes.

Monday, 22 August 2011

It just...

Gets better and better.

Now we're being held at Shenfield while 2 cretins have a punch up on the platform.

Unbelievable.

Not only...

If the 1809 running late, but because NXEA don't maintain their trains properly, it's been reduced to 8 coaches instead of 12.

As a result it's absolutely swarming with arseholes traveling to Chelmsford. And three are no spare seats again.

F*cking wonderful.

Another...

F*cked evenings travel courtesy of NXEA.

The Braintree service of currently 10 minutes late and the dickheads are pushing Southend trains ahead of it.

And as usual when the 1809 is late the Chelmsford arseholes grab all the seats.

Bastards.

The muppets...

At Stratford still haven't bothered to connect the tannoys on platform 10A, but they have managed to install a load of video advertising screens over the weekend.

Ever the money grubbing tossers, they're more interested in making money from advertising than making sure their passengers can hear their announcements.

Useless as ever. Roll on February.

Tuesday, 9 August 2011

Just caught...

The 1809, barely. Because I was a bit late having used the DLR because the Jubilee Line was f*cked again I got on towards the back of the train which was infested by Chelmsford arseholes. Including the obligatory fat cow with her nose buried in one
of those "celebrity" magazines occupying 2 seats.

Not one of these ignorant bastards made eye contact as I sat down, nor did they make any effort to make room for me to sit.

It's a different matter in the morning when the arrogant f*ckers want a seat. I will always try to make room for them, shame they can't return the favour.

Turds.

Friday, 5 August 2011

Trespassers...

On the railway are causing the usual shambles.

As usual the wankers at Stratford haven't a bloody clue.

They're currently advising Southend passengers to get on a bloody Braintree train.

F*cking demented.

Thursday, 4 August 2011

Once again...

London Underground come galloping along to completely  f*ck up my journey home again.

Tonight they took a Jubilee Line train out of service at Waterloo and sent it along the line to the West Ham depot. Next there was a long wait for a packed train for Stratford. Absolutely no one was going to get on that one.

Next was a North Greenwich, strangely no one got on that either.

Now, quite why they couldn't run this train to Stratford given the preceding train wasn't going there is something that will forever remain a mystery.

But the wankers obviously had different ideas and clearly wanted to f*ck the paying customers as much as possible. All the time we're standing there waiting for them to get their sh*t together there's this dozy dickwad on the tannoy smugly proclaiming there was "a good service on the Jubilee Line". Total bullshit.

Another long wait for the next packed Stratford train ensued.

I only just managed to squeeze on amongst the schoolkids and day bloody trippers.

The upshot was I missed the Braintree train for the second night running and am presently standing on the packed Clacton service.

So yet another claim will be winging it's way to then later tonight.

Wednesday, 3 August 2011

As predicted...

When we finally dragged into Witham almost 20 minutes late, the Braintree train was gone.

What was there was a f*cked-up Class 360 which I suspect was the Ipswich service which leaves Stratford at 1806, sitting alongside Platform 3, which is where northbound mainline trains normally stop.

We arrived at Platform 2, where the southbound services usually stop. This meant we had to cross over the bridge to get to Platform 4, where the Braintree trains stop.

It's also where the Station office is located and there was a gathering of seriously disgruntled passengers trying to get to Kelvedon.

Problem was, the Clacton train we arrived on doesn't stop there; neither did the Ipswich train which passed through Platform 4 without stopping while we were there. One individual was just about to lose it, he was not a happy bunny. He was bawling at the staff trying to get them to tell him whether the Clacton train at Platform 2 stopped there. Trouble was the staff were pointedly ignoring him.

Eventually he got so pissed off he took off across the bridge threatening to pull the alarm on the Clacton 321. I have no idea if he actually did; I abandoned the railway at this point and got a lift home.

Un-f*cking-believable.

Currently...

Stopped between Hatfield Peveral and Witham. Yet another signal failure coupled with a broken down train.

What's the betting the wankers have already allowed the Braintree train to go?

What's the point...

Of leaving work on time only to end up standing on a sweltering Jubilee Line train which arrives at Stratford 20 minutes late and more than 5 minutes AFTER the Braintree train has gone ?

Useless twats.

Another...

Late arrival at Stratford this morning.

Tuesday, 2 August 2011

Just...

Had an ignorant fat cow in a pink top barge her way in front of me in the queue for the Jubilee Line at Canary Wharf.

We've just been...

Slung off the Jubilee Line train on which I was travelling to Canary Wharf.

Apparently there's a broken down train ahead of us and a train stuck between stations behind us.

All through this shambles the dot matrix displays are proudly announcing the Jubilee Line has what is laughably described as good service"

Monday, 1 August 2011

Yet another...

F*cked up evenings travel courtesy of NXEA and National bloody Rail.
Bastards.

Allegedly there are signal problems  tonight so  the trains are being royally screwed again.

The 1809 was absolutely rammed with the arseholes travelling to bloody Chelmsford. We had'em all tonight, bastards.

The train was jammed with fat twats sitting in the corner seats fast asleep with their gobs open.

then as soon as we get to Chelmsford the bloody train empties out faster than a swimming pool with a turd floating in it.

Arseholes all of 'em.

Guess what?

We're running late again.

Oh what a surprise!

Thursday, 28 July 2011

I'm getting seriously hacked off...

By all of the tourists and day bloody trippers who buy cheap day return tickets and who should, by rights, not even be allowed onto evening rush hour services.

Yet again I'm being forced to stand while a bunch of mad old biddies hog all the spare seats with their bloody carrier bags.

It's not worth the effort to ask 'em to shift, by the time they've sorted out what they don't want to stick up into the luggage rack and what they don't think they'll need in the next 45 minutes, we'll be in bloody Braintree.

For the second time in 2 days...

The journey into Stratford has been delayed by more than half an hour.

Today's delay was caused by signal problems somewhere around Ingatestone.

The 0812 arrived at Braintree 35 minutes late and only managed to make up about 5 minutes on the journey in.

Another Delay Repay claim to make.

Wednesday, 27 July 2011

Yet again...

The cretins running Stratford station have blocked off the quickest route to platform 10A so some pillock with a pneumatic drill can dick around.

Why haven't these idiots blocked off access to the tunnel leading to the area where the work is being done? Why are there no alternative routes signposted?

The route everyone is being forced to follow now involves climbing 3 flights of stairs to platform 10,  walking along the platform, walking down 3 flights, walking along one of the rat run tunnels and then climbing another 3 flights.

All of this while the train is arriving at platform 10A so there's no respite from having to rush or miss the train.

And bear in mind that Stratford will be the hub for people traveling to next years Olympics.

God help us.

We've finally arrived...

At Stratford, over half an hour late.

So that's another claim for the princely sum of £3.60 compensation I'm able to make.

Pathetic isn't it?

Typically...

NXEA still haven't condescended to pass on any warning of the delay to this train.

I did receive an email earlier warning of delays to the earlier Braintree to Liverpool St service. But of delays to the 0812, deafening silence.

Even the stopping Metro services are outrunning us this morning.

Useless.

And todays excuse...

Is "track problems".

We're currently slowly dragarsing in towards Stratford. We should have arrived by now, but we're not even passed Romford yet and we keep stopping.

Tuesday, 26 July 2011

Yet again...

The dickheads at Stratford have shut off the usual access route to platform 10A

And yet again the gormless twats couldn't be arsed to tell the poor sods trying to use that route that it's blocked. Not a single indication anywhere.

Instead we're expected to troll around the maze of tunnels and stairways trying to find a useable route.

Hopeless.

Wednesday, 20 July 2011

After almost 3 months...

of trains departing from platform 10A at Stratford, NXEA STILL haven't bothered to connect up the tannoy system on the platform.

If you're waiting for a train over there your only source of information are the tannoys on platform 10. The closest of these is a good 50 yards away.

Is it truly beyond the wit of these people to get the speakers that are already installed connected?

Apparently it is.

Pathetic.

Wednesday, 13 July 2011

Does anyone...

...at that festering shower of shit that is NXEA have a bloody clue what they're playing at?

Having arrived on platform 10A at Stratford in plenty of time for the 1809 to Braintree, the useless tossers there decide the train's not going to use that platform, probably because it'll f*ck up the arrival of a more important bloody Southend train, oh no, they have to make everyone  waiting for the Braintree service trek all the f*cking way across to platform 8.

Of course the arseholes couldn't be arsed to hold the train which was pulling in even as we were running around the f*cking place trying to negotiate the mindless maze of tunnels and stairways.

Oh no, the f*cking door beepers were going off well before I managed to get on.

Wankers

Monday, 11 July 2011

They just couldn't resist...

...the temptation could they?

Despite the cable theft occurring well north of Witham, the gormless f*ckwits at NXEA just HAD to start canceling Braintree trains.

As usual the first casualties of absolutely every balls-up on NXEA are the poor bloody sods just trying to get home to Braintree.

The next 2 services, including mine which was due to leave Stratford at 1809 are canceled.

Bastards.

Cable theft screwing services again

NXEA are reporting a cable theft between Witham and Kelvedon.

Naturally they've taken the opportunity to f*ck up the travelling public with alacrity.

Trains being canceled. Connections f*cked up. Delays to services.

We're seeing it all yet again.

Roll on February.

Stupidity personified...

I'm currently on the 0812 train from Braintree to Stratford.

It's a pleasant warm summer morning so as I first sat down I opened a couple of the small windows to let some air in and keep the temperature down.

Of course I didn't reckon with the mind-boggling stupidity of some of my fellow passengers.

One of which has just shut them again because the noise is disturbing the endless drivelling conversation she is having with another gormless female in the seat behind.

Some people are just too thick for words.

Monday, 4 July 2011

More bloody speed restrictions

Yet again Network bloody Rail have stuck another arbitrary speed restriction in along the stretch of line between Stratford and Shenfield.

The 1809 is currently dragarsing along again. The weather is obviously once again the wrong sort.

It's a pleasantly warm sunny day so the antique overhead power lines are f*cked again.

Words fail me.

Thursday, 30 June 2011

Why?

I'm currently at Witham waiting for the 1901 to arrive. It's presently 15 minutes late because the signals are f*cked.

The preceding train from Braintree has only just departed.

Crap crap crap.

Update: The Braintree service eventually departed from Witham 18 minutes late.

All bolloxed again

We're currently dragarsing slowly up the line between Shenfield and Chelmsford because the bloody signals are f*cked again.

Absolutely dire.

Wednesday, 29 June 2011

It's official, NXEA really are crap!

Tonights London Evening Standard (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23965591-rail-firms-deluged-with-complaints-as-fares-rise.do) is reporting a huge rise in complaints about the railways.

In a survey carried out earlier this year five companies running services into London came bottom of the list.

Have a guess at who one of the joint worst performers was...

Got it in one, NXEA.

Monday, 27 June 2011

Another shambles....

They can't run trains in the cold, and now the useless wankers at NXEA can't run trains when the temperature gets a bit toastie.

The temperature today went over 30 degrees Celsius so characteristically the whole f*cking network ground to a halt because the overhead wires are so bloody clapped out they're f*cked when it gets warm. Not good during a typical summer here in the UK.

Trains cancelled, trains delayed, trains not completing their scheduled journeys, you name it, we had it.

I thought I'd leave a few minutes early and get the 1806 from Stratford simply because that service uses Class 360 rolling stock which is air-conditioned. The 1809 uses ancient, clapped out Class 321s which have no air-con. In the weather we've had today they're like ovens and absolute hell to travel on.

As it turned out everything was so f*cked up that it was 20-past-6 before I was able to catch a Clacton train running 40 minutes late. I eventually got to Witham around 7pm. There was a Braintree shuttle waiting there -- as ever NXEA cancelled all through trains and from Braintree as soon as things even looked like going pear-shaped.

Thirty minutes later we finally left having waited for 2 very delayed connecting services.

They've promised us that f*ck-ups like tonight will no longer occur once they've replaced the crap overhead wires... in 2014. You couldn't make it up.

They're forecasting thunderstorms for tonight and tomorrow. I wonder how that will affect the trains. Because it will.

Wednesday, 15 June 2011

It's amazing...

...that whenever a train breaks down because of NXEAs crap maintenance it always seems to be a Braintree service.

Another cancellation this morning after the poor sods who use the 0812 drew today's short straw.

NXEA really have stopped giving a shiny sh*t about their paying passengers since they discovered they were being slung out on their arses.

Tuesday, 14 June 2011

More bloody signal problems

Running late again, signal problems some bloody where.

We've just been moved off the fast track to allow a precious, untouchable  bloody Inter City train past.

Utter shite.

Update

Just arrived at Stratford 10 minutes late. Not enough to claim, but more than enough to really piss me off.

Friday, 10 June 2011

No bloody trains again

Someone has managed to get hit by a train at Stratford.

So of course the headbangers at NXEA have grabbed with both hands the opportunity to f*ck up the lives of as many people as possible by running no trains at all between Liverpool St and Shenfield till 7pm at the earliest.

Makes a bloody mockery of getting the early train on Fridays so I can finish early.

Update.

I went into Liverpool Street to get the 1720 Braintree train since the National Rail website was showing trains were now running, they just weren't stopping at Stratford.

By the time I arrived, the restrictions had been lifted, this was around 1715, but NXEA were having a nightmare trying to get services back to normal.

Lowlights included the 1720 being displayed on the big matrix displays at Liverpool St but then just disappearing. No explanation, nothing. Then just as mysteriously it reappeared. Odd.

The train itself was at leat 25 minutes late arriving at Liverpool St and just as late departing, it also ran very slowly until the approach to Stratford and then accelerated, we went through Stratford at speed.

Not a good evening.

Thursday, 9 June 2011

Chucked off at Witham...

I, and everyone else on the 1901 from Witham to Braintree, have just been slung off at Witham because some berk, driving, according to varying accounts, a bus or HGV has hit a bridge somewhere on the Braintree branch line.

The muppets at Witham have apparently requested buses but they haven't pitched up yet and typically Kermit and Co haven't a bloody clue when they will...

Marvellous

Wednesday, 8 June 2011

You couldn't make up this kind of sh*t

This train, and, I'm willing to bet, pretty much every other commuter train on NXEA this morning are running late because of more f*cked up signals.

We're at least 25 minutes late at the moment.

But surreally, NXEA, are causing more delays to these trains by shifting them off the mainline so their precious bloody Inter City trains can have a clear run. They just did it to us at Chelmsford. They've added at least another 5 minutes to this already bolloxed journey.

Why do travellers to and from friggin' Norwich get priority over the rest of us?

Another day, another f*ck-up

It's currently 23 minutes past eight in the morning and the 0805 from Liverpool St to Braintree has just arrived.

Signal failure apparently.

Friday, 3 June 2011

Cheerful piece of news...

I've just received an email from NXEA that's pretty much made my weekend.

Seems there's a lineside fire somewhere between Shenfield and Southend. They've had to turn the power off so there are no trains running to or from Southend at the moment.

About time those smug bastards got a taste of the shite the rest of us have to endure.

Friday... too little too late.

One of the noticeable changes the new NXEA timetable has brought in is an improvement in the treatment of the users of the Braintree services.

To be honest, any improvement is welcome, the 1809 from Stratford is a case in point. The only problem is the train still waits at Witham for the connecting Clacton train.

A further improvement - how often have I used that word more than once in a post without sarcasm - is the 0726 which now stops at Stratford.

I caught this train for the first time this morning and, despite arriving 5 minutes late I was at work easily a full 15 minutes early.

Too little too late though.

Not strictly a moan about NXEA...

One of the many major irritations that come with travelling on NXEA is the crap 3G mobile phone service offered by Orange.

It's got much worse since their merger with T-Mobile. It's never been brilliant but now it's dismal.

Effectively there's no useable service anywhere between Stratford and Chelmsford which is a bit of a pisser when people on Vodafone and O2 seem to have no problems using their smartphones.

Worse, since the merger, for an Orange user to be able to use the T-mobile signal means switching your phone from 3G to 2G. Which makes owning a smartphone somewhat pointless.

Orange users were allegedly supposed to be able to use the T-Mobile 3G service, and vice versa, by now. But as usual, the technology has beaten them and the service has been postponed indefinitely. Hopeless
.

Update

Just realised I haven't recorded anything on here for a few weeks. So I'll try and bring everything up-to-date.

The NXEA service remains as shite as ever. Invariably, trains run late or sometimes not at all, the infrastructure is as poor as ever, signal and overhead line problems are a daily occurence and occasional cable thefts disrupt travel for everybody.

Some incidents stand out, Friday 13th May is a case in point. Cable thieves caused utter chaos; the 0755 from Witham was 40 minutes late at Stratford.

My original Delay Repay claim for this delay was rejected by NXEA. Suitably pissed off I fired a letter off to 'em complaining they hadn't looked at their timetable, I even enclosed a page from the timetable showing them where they were wrong.

I finally received my refund together with a suitably apologetic letter.

A new timetable was introduced on 22 May, Highlights include the 1800 from Liverpool Street now stopping at Stratford as the 1809. I'm having to leave work a few minutes earlier to make this train. But so far I've been able to catch it.

The train calling at Stratford as well as Shenfield and Ingatestone means the arseholes who clog up the 1820 Clacton train don't bother with it so I now generally get myself a seat on it. Even I don't get one at Stratford, there will be one available from Shenfield.

The train departs from the newly refurbished Platform 10A at Stratford. This platform had to be extended and resurfaced so it could handle 12 coach trains. Up to now it's been completely disused. Getting to it is a bit of a trek along a busy tunnel reached from the Jubilee Line by climbing a set of stairs and crossing over to the station exit. It's further away than Platform 10. This might need to be looked at.

Another highlight is the 0726,  this now leaves a minute earlier than before but is now timetabled to stop at Stratford at 0820. This is a full 10 minutes earlier than the 0727/0755 route I've been using since the December timetable fiasco.

Small improvements to be sure but welcome nonetheless. Roll on February.

Left hand - right hand?

In an earlier post I promised to post my second email to NXEA complaining about them letting connecting services piss off into the sunset leaving the poor sods wanting to catch those connections high and dry together with their reply.

This is my email:

Dear Mr Xxxxxxx,

Thank you for your reply. I have read it carefully, and to be honest it raises more questions than it answers. In particular:

  • Why was the Braintree train diverted onto the electric lines in the first place?
  • Who made that decision and was any consideration at all given to the passengers that decision was likely to adversely affect?
  • Why was the earlier Ipswich service not diverted onto the electric lines? It was well ahead of the Braintree train.
  • If the Braintree train was scheduled to stop at Stratford would it have still been diverted and allowed to overtake the Ipswich service?
  • Why was the Braintree service not held at Witham to await the Ipswich train which arrived no more than 2 minutes after the Braintree one departed?
  • If it was obvious that passengers for Braintree arriving at Witham on both the scheduled connecting Clacton service and the nominally earlier Ipswich service, why were no buses  arranged as they had on previous occasions?
  • Could you also please clarify the term "electric lines"?
I look forward to receiving your answers in due course.

Yours Sincerely,

And for what it's worth here's their reply:

Dear Mr Xxxxxxxxxx,

Thank you for your email and I'm sorry that you were unhappy with my
response.

I have asked the Control Manager for his further comments.

Where there was the ability to move trains onto tracks to let them proceed
we did. This would not have been the case for all trains as crossing points
from one set of tracks to another are not always going to be available.
There will have been services where there were no set of crossing points to
allow transfer to another set of tracks. As I'm sure you fully appreciate,
it's not like changing lanes in a car where you can do it at pretty much
any point. The decisions that were made were done so on the unique set of
circumstances that that disruption raised - insofar that each disruption is
unique with regards to the type and location of disruption, the time of day
and other such factors.

Where we were able and where it was safe to do so we moved trains onto
tracks so they could bypass the affected area. There were trains where this
was not possible. Sorry you are unhappy but this is what happened to your
service that evening.

Once again, thank you for contacting me.

Yours sincerely,

Customer Relations Advisor
National Express

So basically they've told me to suck it up. Roll on February when we finally see the back of NXEA and their arrogant incompetence.

Once bitten twice shy?

Following the balls-up on 23 March I wrote to NXEA complaining about them allowing the connection at Witham to leave without waiting.

I posted their reply here.

They've now written again and this is what they say:

Dear Mr Xxxxxxxxxxxxx,

Thank you for your email.

I apologise for the delay to the 18:06 from Stratford that evening. I have
asked the Manager of our Control Centre to investigate your comments. Owing
to the disruption on the down mainline, caused by a Network Rail emergency
speed restriction at Forest Gate, services were queuing. Where it was
possible and safe to do so trains were diverted onto the electric lines,
the Braintree service being one of these. It would not have been possible
to divert all of the trains on to the electric lines and this did mean that
some services overtook others.

Once again, I apologise for the delay to your service that evening and
thank you for contacting us.

Yours sincerely,

Customer Relations Advisor
National Express

OK fair enough, but no-one appears to have even had a single passing thought for the passengers being f*cked up when their connecting trains were diverted onto the "electric lines" whatever they are; all of NXEAs lines have overhead power so they're all "electric lines".

I have one or two more questions for them yet.

But it appears they may have learned something because the self same thing happened again tonight, Network Rail put in another bloody silly speed restriction and once again all the trains were backing up at Stratford. Yet again I got the 1806 Ipswich train, somewhat earlier than last time which probably made a difference, because the Braintree train, despite having again been allowed to overtake the earlier Ipswich train was still at Witham unlike last time.

Moreover, unlike last time it was also held to await the scheduled connecting Clacton service. This was also earlier than last time but was still almost 15 minutes late at Witham.

I'll post my questions and any reply from NXEA when I get round to it.

Monday, 4 April 2011

Does the left hand actually know what the right hand is doing?

I wrote earlier about a classic NXEA balls-up on 23 March; NXEA have replied and their reply makes interesting reading:

Dear Mr Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting National Express East Anglia. We have received
your email dated 23/Mar/2011 and we aim to get back to you as soon as we
can. Our target is to answer 90% of our contacts within 6 working days.

I have asked for your comments to be investigated. I will be in touch again
once the investigation is complete...

Yours sincerely,

Customer Relations Advisor
National Express

Why do my comments need investigation? Did something occur that shouldn't have happened? Curious.

My cynical side can't help wondering whether they're actually investigating the passenger reaction at Witham.

More when I have it

Some thoughts on NXEA getting the sack

I cannot deny I am beyond overjoyed that NXEA are finally out on their collective arses.

NXEAs reaction to their sacking was illustrative of the whole mindset of the company:

"...We are very disappointed not to have been shortlisted to bid for the Greater Anglia franchise.

"We believe we put forward a very positive and high quality submission building on the significant improvements delivered on National Express East Anglia.

"We are therefore seeking further clarification from the Department for Transport to explain this decision..."

Putting forward a "... positive and high quality submission..." ain't really going to do you any good if you're so shite at your job your own passengers will only give you the second lowest passenger satisfaction rating in the country. It seems the people who award the franchises have finally started looking to see how a company is actually performing before re-employing them; and NXEA have been shown to be not up to the job.

Just more proof if any were needed just how out of touch the management at National Express are.

They were always just in it just for the money they got from taxpayer subsidies. That much became obvious when  it became clear that the East Coast Mainline was a money pit and the bastards dropped it like a hot cake.

Hopefully, rail users in this country will have finally seen the back of this bunch of money grubbing chancers. They should stick to trying to run their buses on time. They could never make their trains run on time. Or at all on occasion.

Friday, 25 March 2011

There is a God

The use less f*ckers have been sacked!!!! Halleluja there is a God.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-12853304

Now please let the Dutch get the franchise. I lived in the Netherlands for 3 years and their rail services were second to none.

Another NXEA F*ck up - 23 March 2011

The moronic incompetents running NXEA f*cked us up again tonight.

There was a speed restriction on the mainline again tonight for one stupid reason or another. Every bloody train apart from the ones going to f*cking Southend was being delayed from Stratford. Strangely, they never seem to have a problem. Everything else was backed up by at least 20 minutes.

I got the 1806 for Ipswich... at 1828.

This train leaves Liverpool St 3 minutes before the Braintree service and doesn't stop between Stratford and Witham. The Braintree train stops at Shenfield and Chelmsford so in the real world the Ipswich train should have been at Witham well before the Braintree train.

However, in the demented f*cked up world inhabited by the tossers at NXEA the Braintree train was pushed through on the fast line while the Ipswich train was pushed onto the slow line.

Even worse, the dickheads couldn't be arsed to hold the Braintree train at Witham so the passengers for Braintree on the Ipswich train could connect. They couldn't even be bothered ot hold it for the connecting train they TIMETABLED in December.

Wankers, the lot of 'em. The only high point all evening was watching the pricks at Witham station being berated by the people their bosses had screwed over. The anger was genuine and universal; the poor bastards were totally overwhelmed having been hung out to dry by the cretins running the railway.

Christ I really do hate these mindless f*ckers.

For all the good it'll do I sent yet another on-line complaint to NXEA. But the arrogant incompetent bastards won't give a flying f*ck as usual.

The usual crap - The week beginning 7 March 2011

Dep: Stratford 1726 (1720) Just goes to prove that any train these dickheads manage to run on time is total fluke.
Arr: Chelmsford 1747 (1744) Shortened wait in the cold?
Dep: Chelmsford 1800 (1757) Course not.
Arr: Braintree  1828 (1828) This'll be claimed as on time. It wasn't. It was late all along the route; just arriving on time at the destination does not constitute on time.

Another dismal effort.  And we've still not had their quarterly major f*ck-up. That's still hanging like the Sword of Damocles.

And now, to add insult to the misery, the up-to-now, free car parking for commuters at Braintree Freeport is about to go as the owners have decided they're now going to start charging 3 quid a day to stay longer than 6 hours. Handily, this will stitch-up the commuters wanting to use the car park nicely.

F*ck 'em I'd sooner walk than pay these money grubbing bastards.

Email to NXEA

Whilst being f*cked up by NXEA tonight some questions about it crossed my mind. As a result, I have just sent the following to them. I'll post their reply when I finally receive it:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I refer to the cancellation of the 1800 Liverpool Street to Braintree service tonight, Monday 21 Feb 2011.

I have some questions regarding this cancellation:

1) Was the individual responsible for the cancellation rostered to drive the Braintree service?
2) If the answer to 1) is "no" which service were they rostered for?
3) If the answer to 1) is "no" why was the Braintree service cancelled in preference to the original service?
4) Was any regard given to the level of overcrowding on subsequent services the cancellation of the Braintree service would have? And
5) Could you please confirm what, if any, disciplinary action will be taken against the individual whose actions were responsible for this cancellation?

I look forward to your prompt reply.

Yours Faithfully

FUBAR Again (Updated)

Tonights 1800 Liverpool St to Braintree was cancelled after a member of the crew went sick.

What isn't clear is which train the driver who went sick was supposed to be driving; were they scheduled to drive to Braintree? Or were they due to take out a different service and the driver rostered for Braintree was then told to drive their train? My guess is the Braintree service was once again deemed to be the one unimportant enough to be sacrificed.

Whatever, it resulted in 2 full trainloads of passengers being forced to share one resulting in yet another miserable f*cked-up journey for not one, but 2 trainloads of people.

In another triumph for the useless incompetent toerags running NXEA, travellers to Braintree were greeted at Witham with an announcement that buses would be arriving shortly. Can you believe it? Bloody buses again.

I wasn't able to record the times for tonights trains. It's not really relevant given the resulting shambles.

Update: On Tuesday I learned the reason for last night's cancellation wasn't idleness but sickness so I've concluded it  wouldn't be reasonable to keep the gratuitous abuse of the driver in this post so I've now removed it.

Arr: Braintree 1825 (1828) Managed to arrive early at Braintree though

Why can't NXEA ever  manage to run trains on time 2 days running, or even run trains to time for one day.?

Another email reply from NXEA

I wrote an email to NXEA on 19 Jan asking why I now had to endure the daily overcrowding on the 1820 Clacton service from Stratford. And why, where before, 3 trains which departed Stratford between 1810 and 1820 all of which stopped at Chelmsford  there was now just one. This is the reply I received on the 10th of Feb (my comments added in RED):

Dear Mr Xxxxxxxxxxx,

Thank you for your Comments Form received 19 January about the overcrowding you have experienced while travelling from Stratford to Braintree. I am sorry for the delay in this response, which is due to a backlog of correspondence. [Still dealing with that pesky backlog eh? Judging by how long you took to reply to me, it's getting longer. Must all those unhappy "customers" of yours.]

When we plan a timetable, it is an absolute priority that the new service will meet the needs of the majority of our customers overall. [Well it hasn't has it? I think I've heard more complaints about this new "improved" timetable than I ever heard about the old one. In reality, it appears to have been designed to finally stop the complaints coming from travellers to and from Colchester but without the added inconvenience and more importantly expense of bringing in more rolling stock so the existing services could continue while the Colchester ones were improved. Instead existing rolling stock has simply been re-deployed from services where passengers weren't complaining to services where they were.] On this occasion, the December 2010 changes also incorporated our commitment to significantly increase the seating capacity on many routes. [But the Liverpool St/Stratford route wasn't one of them was it? It's where you got the extra capacity from! By the way, I note you seem not to have "improved" the Southend route by removing trains from their timetable like you did for Chelmsford and Braintree. Why is that?]

However, I am sorry if you have seen changes which have inconvenienced you [not nearly as sorry as me and the rest of the poor sods who've had their trains yanked from the timetable sunshine. Why should I now have to stand all the way to Witham just so someone else travelling to Colchester or Ipswich can now travel sitting down? It's robbing Peter to pay Paul and it's unacceptable.] in respect of your particular travelling needs between Stratford and Braintree. [So what do you intend doing to fix it then? And, for your information, it's not just me, there are hundreds of very pissed off people daily forced to use your newly reduced services.] We will continue to monitor the performance of our new timetable and any further minor alterations can be made when we next have the opportunity later in 2011. [Minor alterations? You will NEVER fix this in a million years with a few minor tweaks. The entire timetable is a massive cluster-f*ck! While you may have "improved" some routes, a major part of your network has been trashed and is no longer fit for purpose.]

We endeavoured to keep customers informed about the timetable development through our website, station posters and latterly via face to face customer  surgeries at our key stations while this was taking place. [You made sure you didn't spell out just how massive a shambles it would be though did you? Not a bloody peep about removing trains from the timetable so you could make some trains to Ipswich and Colchester longer. The reality is, NXEA have increased the length and seating on some trains at the expense of other travellers going to places like Braintree (who NXEA appear to regard as expendable in any case) by completely withdrawing trains from those destinations. Not by importing additional rolling stock available like they should have. Although I suspect another reason for this cock-up is that there is no-one at NXEA with the experience and intelligence to be able to plan a timetable change as radical as this one and still be able to see how big a balls-up it would turn into.]

Nevertheless, I am sorry that you are frustrated with the changes made. [This is his patronising way of saying "tough sh*t".]

Customer feedback is an important source of information so once again, thank you for  [wasting] taking the time to contact us.

Yours sincerely,

John Nelson

Bad start to the week, a bit ropey in the middle and a dismal end.

Monday
Morning
Dep: Braintree 0814  (0812) Outstanding start to the new week...not!
Arr: Stratford  0909 (0907) Late start, late finish to this journey. Only a couple of minutes though.
Evening
Dep: Stratford 1821 (1806) Ipswich train that was 15 minutes late, as was every thing tonight. Tonight the excuse was lineside equipment failure. The kit in question having only been installed by Network Rail (NR) over the weekend. Hopeless.
Arr: Witham 1903 (1841) Later and later.
Dep: Witham 1922 (1901) Jesus wept!
Arr: Braintree 1939 (1919) Things can only get better...

Tuesday
Morning
Dep: Braintree 0819 (0812) Or can they?
 Arr: Stratford 0914 (0907) Nope.
Evening
Dep: Stratford 1826 (1820) Still losing time over that initial 8 minute leg to Stratford, What is wrong with these people?
Arr: Witham 1907 (1858) Words fail me.
Dep: Witham 1913 (1901) Utter rubbish.
Arr: Braintree  1934 (1919)

Wednesday
Morning
Dep: Braintree 0812 (0812) On time for a change
Arr: Stratford 0908 (0907) Oooooh getting close!
Evening
Dep: Stratford 1817 (1806) Another delayed Ipswich train.
Arr: Witham  1858 (1841) Got to Witham and then had to wait for the previous service to emerge from the Braintree branch line before the next train could even arrive at Witham.
Dep: Witham 1911 (1901) And didn't we have to wait? A passing loop at Cressing would prevent this kind of crap.
Arr: Braintree 1927 (1919)

Thursday
Morning
Dep: Braintree 0813 (0812)
Arr: Stratford 0910 (0907)
Evening
Dep: Stratford  1823 (1820) Closest they got to running this train on time all week.
Arr: Witham  1903 (1858) Still can't get it to arrive on time though
Dep: Witham  1903 (1901) Didn't have a lot of time to change tonight.
Arr: Braintree 1918 (1919) Early again! Still, I suppose it's quite difficult to run a service late if it's the only train on the track.

And finally,

Friday
Morning
Dep: Braintree 0730 (0727) Typical.
Arr: Witham 0746 (0743) Still being late isn't a  problem any more, not since they added the extra ten minute wait for the Stratford train in their whizzo new timetable.
Dep: Witham 0756 (0755)
Arr: Stratford 0832 (0829) At least the train is comfy. And I finished the Metro Sudoku before we got to Stratford.
Evening
Dep: Stratford 1727 (1720) Dear oh dear...
Arr: Chelmsford 1752 (1744) Oh good only a 5 minute wait for the Braintree connection. Oh no it wasn't...
Dep: Chelmsford 1803 (1757) One day, this connection will actually be on time,  but not tonight.
Arr: Braintree 1832 (1828)

Yet again regular travellers on NXEA were treated to another week of disappointment and late trains. Monday in particular was pathetic; how can brand new equipment installed over a weekend break the very next day? Truly truly hopeless.

NXEAs latest slap in the face for the long suffering commuter

In their typical "screw the bill-payer" fashion, NXEA have begun touting the brand new trains they'll be bringing into service on the Stansted Express in May and later in the summer in the Liverpool St - Cambridge line.

A quick Google reveals they'll be using this class of rolling stock.

Nice for some. Shame the rest of us still have to use the clapped out sh*t-boxes NXEA continue to foist on the rest of us.

Sunday, 6 February 2011

And still they can't do something as basic as running the trains on time

No better for the rest of last week;

Tuesday
Morning

Dep: Braintree  0818 (0812) Late departing...
Arr: Stratford  0924 (0907) Even later arriving. Big surprise there!

Evening
Dep: Stratford 1822 (1820) I think I've finally worked out why NXEA always manage to run this train late; every night one of their "untouchable" Inter-City trains goes through Stratford just before the Clacton train is due. I reckon the Inter-Sh*tty is leaving late, which means bumping the 1820 off the main line to let it past. Screw everyone else.
Arr: Witham 1901 (1858)
Dep: Witham 1902 (1901) Nothing to write home about.
Arr: Braintree 1916 (1919) Early!
Wednesday

Morning

Dep: Braintree  0817 (0812) They really don't give a sh*t do they?
Arr: Stratford  0914 (0907) Lost even more time again.

Evening
Dep: Stratford 1842 (1838)  The Jubilee Line was all to cock tonight, which meant I missed the 1820. I caught the later Walton-on-the-Naze train which was the next train that stopped at Witham; can you believe that? Not one train between Stratford and Witham for more than 20 minutes!
Arr: Witham 1922 (1917) More time lost...
Dep: Witham 1949 (1949) Whoo-hoo! On time.
Arr: Braintree 2003 (2005) Early again. We should have this driver stuffed!

Thursday

Morning

Dep: Braintree 0812 (0812) On time
Arr: Stratford 0910 (0907) Closest to being on time at Stratford all week.

Evening

Dep: Stratford 1823 (1820) Bloody Inter-City again.
Arr: Witham 1910 (1858) Bloody useless....
Dep: Witham 1910 (1901) Ten bloody minutes late tonight.
Arr: Braintree 1926 (1919) You can always rely on NXEA to screw it up at least once a week.

Didn't travel on Friday.

Yet another miserable experience on this piss-poor excuse for a franchise.

And we've not had a lineside fire (a favourite excuse for a f*cked-up evenings travel), cable theft (another favourite) or catastrophic signal failure recently. Must be due for one or another soon.

One train on time and then we pay for it

For the first time in almost seven weeks NXEA finally manage to run a train to time; and then as we've come to expect from this shower of sh*t you can rely on them ballsing it up in the near future. And they did...

Monday

Morning

Dep: Braintree 0812 (0812)
Arr: Stratford 0907 (0907) Glory be!

Evening

Dep: Stratford 1824 (1820) Here we go, just look at the sh*t we were subjected to tonight.... This train was packed as usual, I had to stand all the way to Witham. Crap crap crap, and then just when you thought it couldn't get any worse... inevitably it did...
Arr: Witham 1923 (1858) Delayed because, (depending on whose lies you choose to believe), faulty lineside equipment (the driver) or temporary speed restrictions (NXEA email). The real pisser is we were then moved onto the slow line to allow their precious bloody Inter-City trains through without being held up. Arseholes. And then it got even worse:
Dep: Witham 1929 (1901) This was a bloody bus for Christ's sake. They'd let the Braintree train go again and were then left with a train full of very disgruntled passengers. Even then,  because these tossers as always had completely underestimated the demand, some people couldn't get onto the only bus they'd laid on and were left behind
Arr: Braintree 1943 (1919) Effing useless.

Time and time again these blundering f*ckwits show why they're totally unfit to run a model railway let alone one of the busiest commuter lines in Europe.

The complaints are becoming louder and more insistent. If they don't sort it soon there's likely to be a serious rebellion sooner rather than later. And NXEA will deserve it; it's now more obvious than ever that this new timetable is a massive and unmitigated failure.

An Average week - Week beginning 24 Jan

Another averagely crap week for the the long-suffering users of NXEAs "service":

Monday

Didn't travel.

Tuesday

Morning

Dep: Braintree 0815 (0812) And we're off and running... late...
Arr: Stratford 0911 (0907) ... and no change here either.

Evening

Dep: Stratford 1826 (1820) Nope, no improvement here either.
Arr: Witham 1905 (1858)
Dep: Witham 1907 (1901)
Arr: Braintree (1919)

Wednesday

Morning

Dep: Braintree 0817 (0812) Oh dear.
Arr: Stratford 0911 (0907)

Evening
Dep: Stratford 1831 (1820) Bad tonight. Cold as well, too cold to be kept hanging around by these clowns.
Arr: Witham 1906 (1858) Made up some time, whoopee!
Dep: Witham  1907 (1901)
Arr: Braintree 1924 (1919) Jesus wept.

Thursday

Morning

Dep: Braintree 0815 (0812) Why can't they get this train to run on time? I mean it starts from Braintree. How hard can it be for crying out loud?
Arr: Stratford  0909 (0907) The best they've managed since they brought their new timetable in. I arrived at work before 0930 for the first time since 12 December last year. A sign of things to come? Probably not.

Evening

Dep: Stratford 2001 (1955) Later journey tonight after staying on for drinkies at work. Rewarded with yet another cold wait at Stratford for an inexcusably late train. The upside is this one went direct to Braintree, I didn't have to change.
Arr: Braintree 2101 (2050) Hopeless.

Friday

Morning

Dep: Braintree 0729 (0727) Full house of late starts
Arr: Witham 0745 (0743)
Dep: Witham 0755 (0755) This was the weeks only on-time departure.
Arr: Stratford 0835 (0829) Unfortunately...

Evening

Dep: Stratford 1724 (1720)
Arr: Chelmsford 1752 (1744)
Dep: Chelmsford 1806 (1757) According to the tannoy at Chelmsford the delay was caused by a "temporary speed restriction". It didn't say why the restriction was put in place though.
Arr: Braintree 1832 (1928)

One train leaving on time over 4 days ain't brilliant by anyone's standards; although by NXEAs already low standards it's probably above average.

Still, another 5 chances for 'em to fix it next week. Fat chance.

Sunday, 23 January 2011

Week beginning 17 Jan 2011 - The usual rubbish....

Monday
Morning

Dep: Braintree 0819 (0812) A bad start. It never really recovered,
Arr: Stratford 0927 (0907)  Pathetic isn't it?

Evening

Dep: Stratford 1823 (1820) 'Nuff said.
Arr: Witham 1902 (1858)
Dep: Witham 1903 (1901)
Arr: Braintree 1930 (1919) Dismal as ever.

Tuesday

Morning

Dep: Braintree 0813 (0812)Well it started out well-ish.
Arr: Stratford  0915 (0907) Not so good at Stratford though. Not once, not bloody once, has a Braintree train arrived at Stratford on time. Absolutely dire.

Evening

Dep: Stratford 1822 (1820) A bit late tonight, it's been worse.
Arr: Witham 1909 (1858) And typically it did get worse!
Dep: Witham 1909 (1901) So, as ever everything else gets delayed.
Arr: Braintree1927 (1919) The usual rubbish service again.

Wednesday

Morning

Dep: Braintree 0921 (0900) This was the worst day, as usual when there's a problem on the line the first services to be cancelled are the Braintree ones. Always. And they did it again this morning.

Why the hell can't they share the pain around?

And to add insult to injury they started the 0812 from Witham; the bastards just couldn't be arsed to run it through to Braintree. And as a final insult, the 0900 was the best part of half-an-hour late to boot.

I'm running out of words to describe all the crap we get from these wankers. All for the bargain price of more than £3,500 for an annual ticket which basically guarantees bugger all.
Arr: Stratford  1014 (0952) Words fail me.

Evening

Dep: Stratford 1821 (1820) Almost....
Arr: Witham 1902 (1858)
Dep: Witham 1903 (1901) Still managing to lose time...
Arr: Braintree1918 (1919) This has to be a mistake, it arrived early!

Thursday

Morning

Dep: Braintree 0813 (0812) Good start.
Arr: Stratford 0916 (0907) Back to the crap.

Evening

Dep: Stratford 1826 (1820) How do these pillocks manage to lose 6 minutes over an eight minute leg?
Arr: Witham 1904 (1858) Late again. Big surprise.
Dep: Witham 1905 (1901)
Arr: Braintree 1921 (1919)

Friday

Morning

Dep: Braintree 0731 (0727) They can't make any train run on time.
Arr: Witham 0747 (0743) Just as well the train I used to catch here has been changed, because I'd have missed it!

And another thing, last Friday as we pulled into Witham late an even later-running (is there any other  on NXEA?) Clacton to London service pulled in at the same time. Now any one with any common sense at all would have held that train to allow people from the Braintree train to get across the bridge and catch it. But no, this bunch couldn't even manage that so I was treated to a 15 minute wait for the 0755 (typically late). The only good thing about this service is that it's run using a Class 360 and not a crappy 321
Dep: Witham 0802 (0755) Late.
Arr: Stratford 0834 (0829) And later.

Evening

Dep: Stratford 1717 (1720) Caught the Clacton train which departs a couple of minutes before the Witham train.
Arr: Chelmsford 1740 (1744)
Dep: Chelmsford 1758 (1757)
Arr: Braintree 1825 (1828)

Another typically piss-poor week from NXEA.

Please God, let this lot get their just desserts and are slung out on their ear when the new franchise is awarded in November.
